Our Team.

Tim Reiber
Director/Oral Health Therapist

  • Tim is passionate about supporting patients who experience fear or anxiety around dental care, creating a safe and comfortable environment where they feel empowered and at ease.

    Alongside his dental work, Tim continues to serve as a Captain in the New Zealand Army Reserves. He oversees the Reserve Medics for the upper North Island, supporting their training and professional development. During his time in the Army, Tim was deployed to Afghanistan, the Solomon Islands, and Korea in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

    In 2016, Tim moved to the Bay of Plenty with his two young children, Tarquin and Asterix. Outside of work, he enjoys football, the outdoors, and just about anything involving water.

    Tim is committed to ongoing learning and recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Adult Therapy in 2023, expanding his scope of practice to include adult patients. He has also moved into the field of Cosmetic Injectables, offering treatments such as Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®) and Dermal Fillers. With his strong background in facial anatomy, Tim is well-placed to deliver subtle, natural-looking results using the latest techniques and products.

Tracey Thompson-Bell
Dental Assistant/Dental Therapist

  • Tracey and her husband Russell live on their lifestyle block in the Matamata district, where they’ve proudly raised their six children in the same town they both grew up in.

    In her spare time, Tracey enjoys cheering on her children from the sidelines, catching up over a good coffee, and spending time with family and loved ones.

    Among her recent personal achievements, she’s completed two half marathons.

Sue Tonkin
Dental Assistant

  • Sue joined the Applecross team in March 2018 as a Dental Assistant. Her career in dentistry spans many years, including time in Australia where she worked at the Westmead Dental School in Sydney and gained experience across a wide range of dental specialties. Upon returning to New Zealand, Sue continued her work in private practice in Cambridge and later in Hamilton.

    She has developed extensive experience in implant and oral surgery—two areas of dentistry she finds especially rewarding. Sue is passionate about promoting good oral health and is dedicated to helping patients receive the high-quality dental care they deserve.

    Born and raised in Matamata, Sue and her husband continue to call it home. They have two adult children and four wonderful grandchildren. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, gardening, fishing, and travel.

Holly Burnside
Dental Assistant

  • Holly is the newest member of the Applecross House team. Born and raised in Matamata, she loves being able to live and work in her hometown.

    She has completed her Level 4 qualification as a Beauty Technician and has a growing interest in dental cosmetics. Outside of work, Holly enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Hasan Adheem
Dentist

  • Hasan graduated with a Masters in Dentistry from Griffith University on the sunny Gold Coast, following in the footsteps of his father. He brings back home to New Zealand his experience working in rural Australia to Matamata. Whether it’s a toothache, chipped tooth, or cosmetic dental work, his enjoyment in his work derives from the smiles his patients give to him at the end of an appointment.

Lucy Lalittle
Receptionist

  • Lucy grew up in Papamoa and, after spending time living around the country, settled in Matamata in early 2025. With a strong background in customer service, she aims to help patients feel welcome and at ease, while also supporting the wider team at Applecross. Outside of work, Lucy enjoys baking, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr Avi Prasad BDS (Otago)
Dentist

  • Dr. Avi is a compassionate and empathetic dentist, with a special interest in oral surgery. He is experienced in performing surgical extractions, including impacted wisdom teeth, and is trained in intravenous (IV) sedation to ensure anxious patients feel comfortable and at ease throughout their treatment. As an experienced emergency dentist, Dr. Avi is passionate about providing fast, effective relief from dental pain when patients need it most.
    At Applecross House Dentists, Dr. Avi combines clinical expertise with a gentle approach to deliver high-quality care tailored to each individual. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his partner and their two Ragdoll boys. A car enthusiast at heart, he has a particular penchant for German performance vehicles.

Dr. Joonhee Han
Dentist

  • Dr. Joonhee Han is a dentist with a special interest in oral surgery, including dental implants. A graduate of the University of Otago, he is known for his calm and friendly approach, helping patients feel at ease throughout their dental care. Outside the clinic, he enjoys spending time on the road with his family, exploring new places and making lasting memories.
